November General Meeting: Seasons Greetings with a Floral Twist |

Festival of Trees 2021 Scandinavian Hugs |
Karen Gorton showed us how to make 'greens forward' centerpieces using traditional leaves, unexpected leaves (Begonia leaves! Eucalyptus seed heads!) and pops of color with sparing use of flower heads and fresh fruit. These elements can be replaced or refreshed for a season-long arrangement. Karen had an innovative presentation style using audience opinions to shape her decisions, while also making clear use of her extensive training in Horticulture design. As you can see, the winners of the opportunity drawings were very happy.

The Festival of Trees is the major fundraiser for Mass. Horticultural Society. The Needham Garden Club decorates a tree every other year. This year's team chose a Scandinavian theme based on "Hugge" pronounced "HUGH guh" which means finding comfort, pleasure and warmth in simple, soothing things. To see this tree and many others visit Elm Bank from November 26th to December 19th, 10AM to 8PM

Lynne Braley - Our 2020 Unsung HeroNGC Presidents past and current recently met with Lynne Braley, presenting her with a bouquet of flowers and the 2020 Unsung Hero Award, a certificate of merit for her outstanding service to the Needham Garden Club. This belated recognition was very long in coming. We will honor Lynne as soon as we can all meet together again.
