FINANCE

"So who would like to be treasurer this year?" is a question that can empty a room faster than an errant skunk. In reality, the treasurer's function and the Finance committee in the Needham Garden Club is a fulfilling and quite interesting endeavor for people who enjoy handling money, working with spreadsheets and are generally numerically inclined. One of the most rewarding responsibilities of the Finance Committee is awarding college scholarship money to local high school students interested in horticultural and/or environmental fields of study. There are also funds available to members pursuing the club's objectives through educational programs, particularly courses sponsored by the Garden Federation of MA. In addition to the scholarships, The Needham Garden Club contributes to the MA Horticultural Society, Garden in the Woods, The Center at the Heights (the Needham Senior Center), The Distinguished Career Award Banquet at Needham High School and the Garden Club Federation of MA.
